The
Integrated Propulsion unit not only offers great gains in
thrust and speed but dramatic increases in
maneuverability. The tight turns and maneuvers are made
possible with the high performance triple rudders.
By
the use of differential linkage and unique geometry, the
entire propeller outflow is deflected up to 60°
to the side without the loss of thrust or loading of the
engine. This deflection makes it possible for even large
vessels and barge trains to make tight turns. In trials
rudder side force is measured to be 74% of the bollard
pull. This is greater than any other rudder system
including the flap rudder (Becker), which only measures at
40%.
Triple rudders are integrated into the IP Unit but can
also be added onto existing nozzle applications. |
